Dearest Sir House,
What an incredible coincidence, that you would be the one holding onto Karsus and Other Follies! Perhaps you have been ignoring the messages from Candlekeep, but I know you will not ignore me. The enchantment on this letter forbids it.
I’ll forgive you for keeping it from me longer than is necessary or polite if you tell me when and where I can pick it up from you.
Sincerely,
Thavma Sanguine

Thavma,
You are under the impression that I intend to play by the arbitrary rules and standards of a hackneyed institution such as Candlekeep; I do not. Karsus and Other Follies is wholly necessary for my research, which concerns the past, present, and future of myself, yourself, and everyone we hold dear. Given the circumstances I shall be holding onto it.
You’re Welcome,
V. Sir House of Barovia of Barovia

Sir House,
You and I both know that Karsus and Other Follies is an entry-level book on the subject, and certainly not a life-altering tome of the proportions of which you wrote. I can only imagine you are using it for its extensive bibliography–those sources are precisely what I aim to peruse myself. The fate of the world, and every world in the Juggler’s Grasp, relies on my referencing a very specific primary source, and I cannot hunt it down without the book.
This, I believe, settles the matter. I shall see you in three days’ time. Please have tea ready.

Thavma,
I would advise against unlawful entry. While we have been on friendly terms in the past, I have not invited you into my home and do not take kindly to this invasion of my personal space. You have studied my magic, and though you have yet to master it, I know you are smart enough to understand just how dangerous it is.
I do not want to hurt you, but I will. The book is mine; find your own copy. This is your final warning.
You’re Welcome,
V. Sir House of Barovia of Barovia

I’m getting that book, old man.
